Comfort and fit are most important so you can focus on doing the poses. You will want to consider wearing a tank top to yoga. Some of the most basic yoga poses involve a lot of arm movement. No sleeves means you won’t be constantly pushing them out of your way and you can focus instead on your poses. Wear yoga pants. They are easy to find at most stores that carry workout clothes. Try some stretches in the dressing room to make sure you have a full range of motion. Full-length yoga pants are better suited for classes that won’t involve a lot of rapid movement since the excess fabric could trip you up. For more active classes consider getting a 3/4-length pair of yoga pants.
Remember to bring a headband or hair tie. Keeping your hair out your face is always important when exercising. If your hair is too short to tie back, a headband will help keep it off your forehead and out of your eyes.
You should bring a water bottle, small towel (if you sweat), and yoga mat.
If you are currently under a doctor’s care for an injury, you should get permission from your doctor prior to performing any exercise. If you have an old injury that is causing you pain, you should ask your doctor what exercises you may perform. Yoga is not a practice that should cause pain; so if you experience any pain during class, stop the movement or come out of the pose and ask your instructor for a modification.
